Christmas in the Park

Waterside Weymouth Community Forum were successful in obtaining a Lottery Grant to run a project called “Can’t Sing…Neither Can We “

This was a group of people who said they would like to be able to have a choir at the Park Community Centre, but all agreed they could not sing. A bit of a problem but we were very lucky to obtain the services of Johanna Wolff, our Musical director, who has certainly put the group through its paces and produced a high quality group.

We have made several performances and have surprised ourselves as to how good it is to entertain.

Therefore we are delighted to be presenting a Concert “Christmas in the Park” along with Cllr Ray Banham and several semi Professional performers who have given their services free of Charge. It is going to be a great night and we will be videoing the show for the Lottery Board.

How can you help,………..

  • Well I have attached a Poster which you could print and display. Put it on your Web Sites, advertise it on the Radio and TV
  • Sell some tickets prices are £3 Adults and £1 Children, available at The Park Community Centre or telephoning 839579, leave a message and we will rush the tickets to you.
  • And of course buy one yourself and all your friends. That includes you Richard MP, Lord Jim and our Mayor Paul, it really would be great to see you all

We are also holding a Grand Christmas Draw with a home made Christmas Cake by Rose and several hampers made up by Carole, and lots more Christmas goodies. Tickets are 5 for a £1 from the Centre. Although they will be drawn on the night Buy them before and another lot on the night.

It will make such a difference to all the people in “The Waterside Singers” who have really worked so hard to make this project such a success.

Other dates for “The Waterside Singers” include

Wednesday 24th November Concert with Dorset Sinfonia at Weymouth Methodist Church, Melcombe Avenue.

Sunday 12th December    Greenhill Gardens at 4-00pm for Open Air Carols.

Wednesday and Thursday 15th and 16th December Carol Singing in the Park District at 7-00pm. Come along and  join us,  you can not get away with the excuse that you “Can’t Sing”.  Mulled Wine and Mince pies afterwards

I must admit I can not believe that all this has happened in the short space of five months, but I do know I am very proud of everyone, and we all intend to continue.
