Are you up for a Festive Challenge – if so, the Chase the Pudding event next weekend could be for you!!

Hundreds of Santa’s, elves and fairies will chase a giant pudding across Weymouth Beach on Sunday 16 December.

The eccentric event will provide a Christmas boost for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and is sure to bring a ‘festive cheer’ to hundreds of spectators lining Weymouth Seafront.  This year’s big pudding chase will take place on Weymouth Beach on Sunday 16 December at 11am.

Organisers are aiming for record breaking entrants and fundraising to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. People from throughout Dorset are welcome to join in, dressing up as santas, Christmas elves, fairies or anything festive and fun. The more outrageous the better. Santa suits are available if required as part of entry fee. This year’s theme will be `sporting fun’ celebrating Weymouth’s wonderful summer Olympic memories.

Neil Jarrett, Fundraising & Volunteer Manager for the British Heart Foundation said: “We are really looking forward to being involved in this year’s Chase the Pudding and creating a great spectacle on Weymouth Beach.  It is going to be a lot of fun, and the funds raised will help us to continue the life-changing work that we carry out in the local area and across the UK”.

The Chase the Pudding event is run by Mark Steen of Bustinskin and for the second year running he is joining forces with the British Heart Foundation with the aim of developing the event and raising awareness and thousands of pounds for a great cause.

Mark Steen Director of Bustinskin said: “I am really pleased to be partnered with BHF again this year, it is a great cause and with a professional events team the pudding race can only go from strength to strength. I am sure the santa’s will turn out in great numbers to have fun and put on a festive spectacle.”

Weymouth and Portland Borough Council Tourism and Culture brief holder Cllr Ian Bruce said: “Weymouth’s enthusiasm to hosting great festivals and events throughout the year continues with this festive favourite. Local events generate great fun, awareness and funds for good causes. They bring the town alive. Come on down to the seafront on 16 December and help make one of  Weymouth’s big Christmas events go off with a festive cheer.”

For full entry and sponsorship details go to www.bhf.org.uk/chasethepudding2012. The cost of entering Chase the Pudding is £10 for adults (£15 to receive a Santa costume) and under 10’s are free with a family member.

Registration and warm up for the runners will take place in the Weymouth Pavilion Ocean Room from 9am.   Free parking is available on Sundays in Weymouth Pavilion Car Park.

The start of this year’s Chase the Pudding will be hosted by Wessex FM Breakfast presenter James O’Neil followed by a `Festive Santa Warm Up’ from top local fitness trainer Jodie Bateman.

This year’s Chase the Pudding will also be supported by Seafront Café `THE BOAT’ – a perfect spot to view and cheer the army of Santa’s as they sprint along the beach.

Organisers would also like to thanks the borough council and Pavilion staff for their great support.
