There is going to be a Dog Open Day held on the New Ground Portland Dorset on 29th August 2011 at 1100-1500 Hours.

This great doggy event will be involving a partnership project between WPBC (Dog Warden), DCC (Ranger Service) and The Portland Gas Trust.

The event will run from 11am – 3pm.  We hope to have a dog show with a prize for the winner, dog agility display (local dog club) possibly Dorset Police Dog display, colouring competition for children, raffle, information stands both business and charity will be offered spaces, fire engine, refreshments from private caterer vans.

The local Mayor is to open the show (TBC at this stage)

We will be having different classes of dog competion for the children and adults again with rosettes allchildren taking part will get a rosette, we have a cup that we will awarded for the best in Show for the year and hoefully smaller cups for different classes.

Colouring competions for various ages with prizes

There will be hopefully  a display ring, a novelty class ring, with trophies and rosettes to be won.

There will be a chance to “Have a Go” at Heelwork and “Have a Go” at Agility.
Classes for all dogs and bitches over 6 months of age – pedigree, crossbreed and mongrel.

Heat for Crossbreed of the Year competition, Junior Handlers Classes,

All around the field will be Trade stands and Food Stalls

I hope to have some agility equipment for the children and adults to practise the agility and possible some dogs and owners who might give the children/adults a display of agility.

We hope to have a local breeders of Great Danes with his 2 champion dogs.

We have got various prizes from dog related companies’ leaflets to put in the free info packs from the RSPCA items of equipment from MDC Dog equipment, PET I.D.

Council Leaflets re dog control orders and dog fouling also free info packs for dog owners will be handed out.

Ample free parking in the area. 

People will be told to have dogs on leads at all times.

Para Gliding Centre stand  with their various kites for member of the public to see and possible try on the day.

Bovington Hounds will be on site for children and adults to see and meet the dogs.
