We are delighted to report that the Royal Navy will be sending the Type 23 frigate HMS Kent for the duration of MarineEx 2010.

The ship will be berthed in Portland Port and will only be open to MarineEx visitors. Due to current circumstances, a courtesy coach will be available to transport our visitors to the port where they will be escorted to the ship.
Ian Ferguson of Weyline 777 777 Taxis is thanked for providing the coach and running a shuttle service to and from the show site . The coach will seat 16 which is the ideal number for the navy to take around the ship in a single group.

The service will commence at 10am and the last coach to Portland will leave at 3pm.  This will allow around 1.5 hours for a tour of the ship.  At 5pm a special ‘Spectacular” event isbeing planned and more information on this will be announced shortly.

John Moyce of Osprey Marketing, who are the organisers of MarineEx 2010, said ” The Royal Navy and Portland Port are thanked for making this happen. It is rare that one has the chance of seeing a modern warship at close quarters and who knows when there will be another opportunity’.

This is the fourth year of the MarineEx show which has gained tremendous additional publicity since it was decided to enlarge the show by moving the venue to Osprey Quay. It now becomes the feature event for the first weekend of Weymouth & Portland’s Maritime Festival known as ‘Spirit of The Sea’. There are over 50 exhibitors booked in to date and that number s increasing daily along with continuing interest from potential exhibitors and attractions. By moving the show to Osprey Quay we have been able to give our exhibitors more space both on shore and on the water.
There are still some sponsorship opportunities available for which we are interested in discussing with businesses.

The show will open at 10am on Saturday 3rd July with an official closing time of 6pm although some exhibitors will stay open longer. On Sunday 4th the show will again open at 10am but close at 5pm.
