The ghastly weather proved to be more of an opposition than the weak Wayfarer side for Weymouth 1s on Saturday. Another goal fest for Weymouth thanks to a double hatrick from dynamite Drewitt allowed Weymouth to strengthen their top of the league position.
With some impressive positional play and some skilful set pieces, the team continued to exert pressure on Wimborne who held little possession throughout the game.
A string of goals from Squibb, Chittenden Foot and Stuart-Smith in the first half supported Drewitt’s first hatrick and set the pace of the game. The first half was abandoned after 25 minutes and at 7-0 due to extreme winds forcing the goals over.
The second half started off with a bang with Drewitt slipping one niftily past the away keeper. This was shortly followed by Stuart-Smith’s second as she hammered the ball into the net following a run down the middle. Some awesome central play from Alice Craven maintained composure on the pitch and she drove at speed towards the goal. Weymouth continued to penetrate the defence who continued to battle hard despite their 9 goal deficit but to no avail as Bloxham and Drewitt rounded up the game to finish in a 12 goal victory.
