MV Freedom is a Weymouth based fishing vessel funded by charitable donations dedicated to taking disabled people, people who have learning difficulties and elderly people to sea where they can enjoy the fresh sea air and take part in many activities that would otherwise be out of bounds for them.
The charity, Friends of MV Freedom, has been going for over 27 years now and has no paid staff, it’s all done voluntarily. They organise many events such as long walks for the regulars in the Kings Arms, The Duke of Cornwall and the Boot etc. and, in conjunction with Dartmoor Brewery who produce the locally popular “Jail Ale” arrange a sponsorred barrrel run from Princetown in the Centre of Dartmoor back to the Kings Arms on Weymouth harbour front. Taking place on 11th / 12th September 2010. If you can make it, cheer the teams in on the Sunday.
