Work will start to install the new bridge on Monday 17 October 2011.
Planning Permission for the unembellished structure was received on 14 September 2011.
Following initial set-up and preparatory works, Newstead Road will be closed in the northbound direction for 20 weeks starting on Monday 24 October.
Only the section of Newstead Road between the junctions with Knightsdale Road and Granville Road will be affected, and access to adjacent properties will be maintained at all times.
A diversion route will be signed via Westwey Road for northbound traffic. Vehicles will still be able to travel southbound along Newstead Road, while access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained throughout this period.
Between 7pm on Friday 3 February and 6am on Monday 6 February 2012, Newstead Road will be closed in both directions while the new bridge is lifted into place.
During the works period, the northern access to the Rodwell Trail from Newstead Road will be closed, with access instead via Ilchester Road.
