Popular viewing sites get a makeover for the summer Olympics

Two key viewing sites for the 2012 summer Olympics yachting events in Weymouth have benefited from the recent installation of attractive new parish map boards on stone plinths. Farm and Cottage Holidays, one of the South West’s leading holiday cottage agencies, has sponsored the replacement of two faded interpretation boards at two popular car parks at Osmington and Ringstead. The improvements have been delivered as part of a partnership between Dorset County Ranger Service, the South West Coast Path Team, and Farm and Cottage Holidays.

James Morris, managing director of Farm and Cottage Holidays said: “We are delighted to be supporting the South West Coast Path and its project to improve the signage at Osmington Mills and Ringstead.  Supporting local projects like this to improve the facilities available for everyone is really important and it’s great to be involved in a Dorset-based project that attracts many of our customers and gives them more information about the area.”

John Hayes, Senior Ranger, Dorset County Council Ranger Service, added: “The interpretation boards provide a wealth of information on Osmington, helping visitors to learn about and enjoy this beautiful coastal parish. The provision of good-quality visitor information and interpretation around Weymouth Bay is particularly important now that we are in the build-up to the 2012 Sailing Events. Our thanks go to Farm and Cottage Holidays for offering to sponsor the production of these two interpretation boards.”
