The Stone Pier, Weymouth.
The Stone Pier, Weymouth.

Stone Pier resides on the eastern side of Weymouth harbour, and is a breakwater which was built to help protect the entrance to the harbour. Hugely popular all year round as a great place for a spot of sea-fishing, Stone Pier remains a favourite venue for both locals and visitors alike.

The harbour side of the pier offers the perfect place to pick up a few Dabs and Plaice, whilst the two smaller piers that stretch out into the harbour from the main pier offer excellent sport, with Bass, Wrasse, Mackerel, Garfish, Pollock and Conger Eel regularly being caught, most often by float fishing.

Stone Pier is an excellent place to introduce children to the joys of sea-fishing, and generations of children have learnt the basics whilst standing on Stone Pier. Weymouth Angling Centre in the town offers a range of affordable kit for to help children get started in fishing, as well as some very useful advice.

Stone Pier is open all year round, but caution must be exercised if the wind is blowing strong, as waves can come crashing over the pier. For the vast majority of the year though, Stone Pier offers a fun, relaxing and enjoyable day out.
