I was very lucky recently when I allowed a friend of mine (Dean Sharp of Sharp Events) to book my company’s Christmas Lunch, he’d recently been to an impressive openning evenning at a new restaurant in Weymouth called The Dining Room and he recommended it highly following the dazzling display of food tasters that were on offer that evenning.

Well, suffice is to say that they didn’t disappoint us, the staff (all family members) were very pleasant on arrival, they gave me a tour of the premises which not only enjoys a light airy ground floor but a surprisingly pleasant first floor which is also going to be used for small private functions (I’ve made a mental note for my own use!).

Whilst waiting for some guests to arrive we perused the well chosen wine list and were offered a couple of additional choices that they had in that were not on the list, I chose the Sancere, a particular favourite of mine, from the additional choices, I’m glad I did as it was superb.

The menu is quite extensive something for everyone and the chef/owner, Taher, was good enough to tailor our experience to suit our needs, as the menu was so good and the choice of what to eat so difficult, he offered to make smaller portions of everything so that we could try more of the dishes. We readily accepted and enjoyed an afternoon of haut cuisine that would be difficult to rival anywhere.

Desert was a no-brainer for me, there was Creme Brulee on the menu and that always gets my vote, done to perfection, the best I’d had since I lived in France!

I can whole heartedly recommend this restaurant, anyone wishing to book can call them on 01305 783008. You can find them at 67 St Mary Street, Weymouth DT4 8PP or email them on info@thediningroomweymouth.co.uk

I give The Dining Room a very respectable 90%.
