This weekend on Weymouth’s Beach the annual Kite Festival will be taking place on Saturday 4, Sunday 5 and Monday 6 May 2013.

The kite festival is a big favourite with residents and visitors alike as kite flyers take to Weymouth’s fantastic beach to show off their skills and wonderful designs to huge crowds.

Throughout the weekend people can look forward to aerial acrobatics kite displays, beautiful single line kite displays and amazing static kite demonstrations.

Weymouth’s annual Beach Kite Festival has developed into a great success for the town generating a real buzz and giving a welcome boost to the tourism business, from accommodation, hospitality and retail. The kite festival attracts many visitors who love the kaleidoscope of kites and wonderful displays throughout the weekend providing a stunning launch to Weymouth’s festival season.

Allan Pothecary of Close Encounters flying team said: “All the kite flyers love to come to Weymouth, the warm welcome and huge crowds make it a wonderful weekend.”

During the bank holiday weekend there will be kite traders along the Weymouth Esplanade where people can buy kites and kite bits and pieces.  Children’s kite workshops will be available on Sunday 5 and Monday 6 May where youngsters can make a high quality kite in partnership with `Kites for Schools’ (a Bridport based company specializing in making kites for school children). The Kite Festival Fun Fair located in front of Weymouth Pavilion during the weekend.
